A Mosaic of Perspectives: Uniting for Change

The Power of Reconciliation and Inclusion at the Shalom Summit

As the days draw nearer to the Shalom Summit on May 10th-11th, 2024, anticipation builds within our community and beyond. This event, steeped in the commitment to fostering reconciliation and inclusion, is more than just a conference; it’s a rallying cry for all who believe in the transformative power of unity within the Church.

Under the thoughtful guidance of Rev. Erin Beasley, the Shalom Summit addresses the enduring wounds of segregation and division that linger within religious communities. The Summit serves as a potent reminder of the Church's capacity and responsibility to bridge divides and facilitate healing. This gathering is not just about discussion; it’s about actionable steps towards a more inclusive and harmonious Church.

This year’s lineup of speakers and panelists brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the Summit. Figures like Rev. Dr. Fred Smith, Chaplain Tim Riddle, and Rev. Michael Piazza will delve into topics ranging from moral injury and LGBTQ inclusion to the evolving role of the Church in the broader societal context. These discussions promise to be eye-opening and thought-provoking, offering new perspectives and challenging existing paradigms.

A highlight of the Summit is the worship sessions led by the talented musician Mark Miller, accompanied by a joint choir. Music has a unique ability to transcend differences and touch hearts, and these worship sessions aim to harness that power to unite attendees in spiritual growth and communal harmony.

The diversity of preachers, including Rev. Dr. Robert Ortiz, Rev. Ruth Martin, and Rev. Cynthia Engstrom, ensures that the Summit will offer a rich tapestry of insights. Each preacher brings a unique perspective, informed by their personal experiences and theological reflections, contributing to a well-rounded and deeply enriching experience for all attendees.

The Shalom Summit is not just an event; it's a movement towards a more inclusive and reconciled future. It represents an important opportunity for individuals, leaders, and communities to engage in meaningful dialogue and commit to actionable change.

We urge everyone who shares this vision to participate, whether by attending the Summit, engaging with our social media by sharing with others, or contributing to the discussions of reconciliation from wherever you are. Join us as we step forward into God’s vision for His creation, turning intention into action for a better world. Let’s come together to learn, share, and grow in the spirit of true Christian fellowship.
